Mandela Day reminds us that meaningful impact does not always require a major intervention. Sometimes, it starts with identifying a simple need and bringing people together to address it.
This year, through their involvement with the CESA KZN Young Professionals Forum, members of our team supported a calculator drive for Ganges Secondary School in KwaZulu-Natal. The school hosts mathematics workshops aimed at helping learners prepare for exams, build confidence in mathematics, and explore future opportunities in STEM careers.
With the support of Bosch Ulwazi, SAICE, and other engineering professionals, 60 scientific calculators and stationery packs were donated to learners.
While a calculator may seem like a small contribution, access to the right tools can make a significant difference in a learner’s educational journey. More importantly, initiatives such as these create opportunities, inspire confidence, and demonstrate to young people that careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics are within their reach.
