Bosch Projects (Pty) Ltd, a level 1 BBBEE certified company and a member of the multi-disciplinary Bosch Holdings group, founded in 1961, has a permanent job opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer, based in our Mount Edgecombe office.
This role offers the opportunity to deliver technical structural engineering design on diverse, complex projects across the sugar, industrial, water, and wastewater sectors, supporting projects from feasibility through to commissioning.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES :
- Detailed design of concrete, steel and masonry structures.
- Detailed design of concrete foundations required for concrete or steel industrial structures including consideration of static, dynamic and vibration loading.
- Design and detailing of concrete water-retaining structures, including reinforcement.
- On-site and workshop verification, quality control and assurance during fabrication and construction.
- Condition assessments, structural investigations and remedial design of existing structures.
- Preparation of reports, procurement documents, contracts, bills of quantities and budgets.
- Structural analysis using industry-standard software, supported by hand checks.
- Develop drawings and coordinate the drawing process, from concept and mark-ups to final review.
- Contribute to company processes and tools that improve workflow efficiency.
- Coordinate, communicate with and support internal and external resources for project success.
- Support work acquisition and business development through client engagement, solution development and proposals.
- Supervise and develop young engineers through mentorship, guidance and work review.
- Ensure compliance with Bosch Projects’ ISO 9001:2015 quality management system for all role responsibilities.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD:
- A BSc Eng / BEng/ BTech qualification in Structural/Civil Engineering.
- Profession Registration with ECSA (Pr Eng/Pr Tech Eng).
- At least ten (10) years’ experience in structural engineering design on multi-disciplinary projects.
- Demonstrable consulting project experience from concept to construction with minimal supervision.
- Well-versed in the application of codes & standards (SANS 10100, SANS 10162, SANS 10160, etc.)
- Proficiency in structural modeling and analysis using software (Prokon, AutoCAD, Revit)
- A valid driver’s license, a valid passport, and willingness to travel within South Africa and cross-border into Africa as project requirements dictate.
- Good interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to service multiple projects concurrently, prioritizing workflows to meet timelines and maintain quality.
- Strong technical report writing skills and using MS office suite.
ADVANTAGEOUS:
- Experience in heavy industry (sugar, agri-processing, pulp and paper, ports and terminals)
- Exposure to water, wastewater and infrastructure including building structures.
- Working knowledge of structural and civil defects, roots causes and remedial measures.
- Exposure to FIDIC, NEC or GCC contract suits.
