TYPE OF CONTRACT: Water Demand Management &Amp; Water Conservation

SERVICES PROVIDED:

  • Implementation of 18 District Metered Areas (DMA);
  • Retrofitting of 50 000 Stands;
  • Upgrading of 40km of potable water pipes;
  • Service Connections (Erf/Yard) installation;
  • Household Meter insolation;
  • Bulk Water Meter installation; and
  • Midblock replacement.

PROJECT SCOPE:

The primary scope of the project is founded on the municipality's objective of reducing Non Revenue Water (NRW) and reducing Real Losses of the Metropole. Greater Orange Farm has 50 000 stands with ±240 000 residents and several WCWDM initiatives where identified to be implemented to minimize the NRW of the region.

FEATURES:

The primary function of implementing the DMA’s was to strategically select critical DMA’s with higher then normal Minimum Night Flow (MNF) and funding can then be strategically allocated to implement WCWDM initiatives. In addition, Pre and Post implementation can be monitored to evaluate the success rate of the WCWDM initiatives taken.
