Project Description:

Consulting Engineering Service up to Stage 4: Documentation and Procurement on the H39 Pipeline: 10km x 1700mm  gravity pipeline between Klipfontein Reservoir to Brakfontein Area with a capacity of 5800 ℓ/s.

The pipeline required pipe jacking at 8 road crossings (2250mm concrete sleeves) totalling a length of 284m with cross connections to existing Rand Water pipelines at the termination point.

Specialist Geotechnical Services provided by Michael Pavlakis & Associates.

Overall features of this project:

  • Steel Pipeline: 10 000m length 1700mm (wall thickness 15 mm).
  • Pipe Jacking: 8 No. 2250 mm  sleeves.
  • Peak Design Flows: 5 800 ℓ/s Klipfontein Reservoir to Alan Road.

Project Value : R235 million

Appointment Date : September 2011

Design / Documentation Issued to RW : August 2012

Construction and Close Out Stages implemented in-house by Rand Water.
