Rainnie Road Container Handling Facility: Crane Dismantling

  • Contract administration;
  • Construction supervision; and
  • Safety management.

Project Scope:

Bidfreight Port Operations appointed Bosch Projects for the full multi-disciplinary range of services required to convert an unused 10,500 m2 site at Maydon Wharf for the storage of refrigerated and normal containers. This resulted in the need to dismantle and relocate a large container gantry crane. Bosch Projects was engaged to oversee and verify dismantling processes and procedures.

Features:

Bidfreight Port Operations (BPO) operates the Rainnie Road Container Handling Facility. This terminal currently receives and dispatches 20 and 40 foot refrigerated and normal containers.

The Dismantling Contract consisted of:

  • Dismantling and transport of gantry crane;
  • Management of dismantling procedure and equipment marking;
  • Ensuring compliance to OHS Act requirements; and
  • Checking of safety files and rigging studies.

Project Value: R 0.5 million.
